Hyakunin Isshu Poems

The artist Hokusai's depiction of Minamoto no Muneyuki's poem 'yamaza'

For an anthology of poems that is over 700 years old, interest in the Hyakunin Isshu (100 poems by 100 poets) is still going strong. From this page, you'll find links to specific blog posts about the poems, along with links to other websites with more information on the poems and poets.

My posts

My posts are numbered according the the order the poems appear in the Hyakunin Isshu, which themselves are ordered chronologically by when they were written. They are also titled by their kimari-ji (unique starting syllables). Each poem is also labelled, so you can quickly navigate to find poems on specific themes, or starting with certain syllables, by checking out the labels.
